Sligo Rovers midfielder Thomas Morley played the full 90 minutes as the Republic of Ireland under 19's drew nil-all in their opening European qualifier with Moldova on Wednesday afternoon.
Morley, a native of Knock in county Mayo and his teammates could have snatched victory with a penalty in added time at the end of the second half.
However, Shamrock Rovers' Cian Dillon saw his spot kick saved by the Moldovan goalkeeper.
Another Sligo Rovers midfielder, Daire Patton and Oisín Cooney, who plies his trade at Finn Harps were unused substitutes for the game.
The Republic will play two other games in this qualifying campaign.
Tom Mohan’s charges face Azerbaijan on Saturday and Iceland next Monday.
