Toulestrane fall to Castlebar Mitchels in Connacht final

There was disappointment for Tourlestrane in Sunday's Connacht LGFA intermediate club football final as the Sligo champions were beaten by an impressive Castlebar Mitchels side in Swinford, on a final scoreline 4-12 to 1-7.

The Mayo side were deserving victors, playing the superior football for much of the hour.

They led by 1-7 to 0-5 at the interval with all of Tourlestrane's first-half points coming from the boot of Katie Walsh.

Tara Walsh's second-half goal for Tourlestrane offered brief hope but Mitchels would score three second-half goals themselves to put the result beyond all doubt.
