There was Connacht club championship disappointment again for Sligo champions Tourlestrane on Sunday when they beaten by Knockmore of Mayo in their provincial semi-final in Ballina, on a final scoreline of 0-10 to 0-8.
Tourlestrane led the contest for much of the hour but an improved showing from the Mayo champions in the second 30 minutes proved telling as they ground out a two-point victory.
Kevin Johnston's side will also rue the number of first-half scoring opportunites which weren't taken.
During that opening half, Tourlestrane kicked five first-half wides and also dropped two scoreable chances short.
In the end, Knockmore's knowhow, with county star Kevin McLoughlin pulling the strings, saw them prevail and book a place in the Connacht club final in the New Year.
The second semi-final between Padraig Pearses (Roscommon) and Mountbellew/Moylough (Galway) takes place next weekend.
