Two Sligo athletes have been selected on the Ireland team for next month's European Cross Country Athletics Championships in Belgium.
Dromore West's Keelan Kilrehill, who's a member of the Moy Valley Athletic Club in Ballina, has been added to the senior men's team following his fourth-place finish at the national cross country championships in Kilkenny last Sunday.
Sligo town's Michael Morgan, who won an All-Ireland senior schools cross country title for Summerhill College in 2020, has been added to the Ireland under-23 team.
Morgan is currently on sports scholarship at well-known US athletics college, Providence, where he's under the guidance of former Irish middle-distance runner Ray Treacy.
He is only the second Sligo athlete to get a scholarship of this nature at the prestigious Providence College - North Sligo Athletic Club's Mary Cullen being the first.
Three Finn Valley Club runners are also part of the Irish team.
The Flanagan sisters Eilish and Roisin will run in the senior women's race - while Amy Greene second place in the U20 race in Kilkenny last weekend, earns her an automatic place on the women's U20 team.
The Euro Cross Country Championships take place in Brussels on Sunday, December 10th.
