Sligo Rovers gave themselves a timely boost in the race for a third place finish in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division on Friday night with a 2-0 win against Drogheda United at the Showgrounds.

John Mahon headed home Adam McDonnell's 72-minute corner, and then Johnny Kenny fired home in the 89th minute to earn Rovers a priceless three points in the chase to clinch European football next season.

Elsewhere, Shamrock Rovers clinched the Premier Division title for 2021 with a 3-0 win against Ollie Horgan's Finn Harps at Tallaght Stadium.
Derry City, who are also in the hunt for third place, scored a late equaliser at home to Bohemians at the Brandywell.
Next up for Rovers is another home game against Longford Town this Monday night (Nov 1st) at 7:45pm.
