The demand for the National Ambulance Service has increased by 30% and is now above pre-pandemic levels.

 

The HSE will tell an Oireachtas committee today staff have been put under 'immense' pressure.

SIPTU will say burnout and fatigue have risen sharply among staff - and will partly blame a recruitment crisis.

 

Donegal Independent TD, Thomas Pringle recently called for more ambulances to be allocated to Donegal and highlighted examples of ambulances based in Donegal having to travel to incidents in Mayo and Tipperary.

David Hall, the chief executive of Lifeline Ambulance Service, is calling for an independent review.
