Nine Kilos of cannabis was seized yesterday by Gardai in West Roscommon.
Gardai have confirmed that the discovery was made under operation Tara during the course of an ongoing intelligence led operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the west and north west of the country.
Gardaí attached to the Divisional Drug unit were assisted by members from Castlerea Garda station when they stopped and searched a van late on Sunday night in Ballaghaderreen Co. Roscommon and cannabis was seized with an estimated street value of €180,000.
The driver of the van, a man in his early 40s was arrested at the scene and was brought to Castlerea Garda station where he is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
Gardai say that Investigations are ongoing.
