Significant funding announced for Laghey to Pettigo road

€1m in funding has been allocated for improvement works on the Laghey to Pettigo route.

Works will begin shortly on the R232 with €500,000 made available for this year and a further €500,000 for next year.

The funding was secured in part due to Councillor Michael Naughton who led a delegation to the Department of Transport last year.

This is the largest funding the route has ever received.

Cllr Naughton says it's a vital link for people in the South and South West of the County.
