Sligo Senator Nessa Cosgrove has accused the Government of massaging the Garda recruitment figures by delaying the full vetting process for trainees.
It's emerged in recent days that trainees in Templemore are being granted access to Garda uniforms, training, equipment and firearms without being properly assessed.
The Garda Press Office has hit out at the reports which claim adding that all new recruits are subject to 'an adjusted process which is ongoing'.
The Labour Party Senator says any recruits that have completed their full training and fail to satisfy the vetting criteria will be left out of pocket.
