Trial of the man accused of murdering Private Rooney expected to continue today

A hearing is expected to take place today for the man on trial accused of the murder of Private Sean Rooney in the Lebanon.

Private Rooney died ld just over a year ago when the convoy he was travelling in came under attack.

Mohammad Ayyad was released last month on bail due to health concerns.

Earlier this year Lebanon’s military tribunal charged Mohamad Ayyad and four others with the killing of Private Sean Rooney, of Newtown Cunningham, Donegal.

The four others facing charges – Ali Khalifeh, Ali Salman, Hussein Salman, and Mustafa Salman – remain at large.
